Summer Lookbook 2013

Hello my lovely scarlets, how have you been? Did you go on vacation? I did and it was so nice. I spent my summer holidays at Chania, as most summers of my life (I was born there also) and had an amazing time. I managed to film a few outfits so I made a video on my youtube channel for you to see. I have a few photos as well, which I will post here and I'd love it if you would see the video and tell me what you think about the outfits.

Έκανα τις διακοπές μου στα Χανια, όπως τα περισσότερα καλοκαίρια της ζωής μου (επίσης έχω γεννηθεί εκεί) και πέρασα εξαιρετικά. Κατάφερα να βιντεοσκοπήσω μερικά outfits και έφτιαξα ένα βίντεο για το κανάλι μου στο youtube. Έχω και μερικές φωτογραφίες, τις οποίες θα ποστάρω εδώ, αλλά θα ήθελα πολύ να δείτε το βίντεο και να μου πείτε τη γνώμη σας για τα outfits.

This is the 4rth look on my lookbook and it's my favorite. I love this car and I wish it was mine! But remember this: don't be surprised if someday you see me strolling the streets with a classic beauty like this. It's my dream to buy a classic vintage car, even older than this one (which is a 1973 Triumph MK3) and I believe I will....someday! 

Αυτό είναι το 4ο look στο lookbook μου και είναι το αγαπημένο μου. Λατρεύω αυτό το αυτοκίνητο και θα ήθελα πολύ να είναι δικό μου! Αλλά να θυμάστε αυτό: μην παραξενευτείτε αν κάποια μέρα με δείτε να κυκλοφορώ με ένα κλασικό κομμάτι σαν αυτό. Είναι το όνειρό μου να αγοράσω ένα κλασικό vintage αυτοκίνητο, ακόμα πιο παλιό από αυτό (το οποίο είναι ένα Triumph MK3 του 1973) και πιστεύω οτι θα το καταφέρω...κάποτε!

Lets stretch her legs (my new Canon 40D)

Last week I finally got something that has been on my wish list for quite some time: a DSLR! It’s an older model, so it was used, but in mint condition. I haven’t had the chance to play with it the past few days, but today my brother and I went to Gazi in Athens and gave my new camera a try. I admit that it takes a lot of practicing to get a decent shot and it really helps having someone to show you the tricks.

I also found a manual of the Canon 40D on youtube, which was really helpful.

If you do buy a DSLR and have no idea how to use it, don’t worry, there is a lot of information online. My advice though, is to set it in Manual mode, because the whole point of getting a DSLR is to learn how to take good quality pictures!

Mr. Cabdriver!

Today the weather was magnificent, so I set out to go to the city centre for some shopping, visit a few thrift stores etc. I took the train because it’s almost impossible to park near Syntagma square, especially on a Saturday morning. On the way I started to feel a bit lightheaded and dizzy. It got worse and as soon as I left the train station I started feeling like I was about to faint. So I thought I should get back because I was in no condition to walk or do any shopping whatsoever. I got in a cab and told the driver to take me to my destination as soon as possible because I wasn’t feeling well. He said “with a woman like you I would even go to hell”!!! I ignored his remark and said please lets go, I feel very dizzy, but he continued and suggested that we go for a coffee so I will feel better and started asking me what’s my name, what I do for living, where I live etc.
OMG, was that guy for real? There I was, almost about to faint and he was hitting on me!!!
I had no choice but to get out and grab another taxi to take me home. Fortunately the other driver was no casanova!

I know I’ve been bad!

The correct title would be “New in”, but I thought I’d change it a bit since I have been making some purchases lately and I don’t want to use the same title over and over again. My excuse is: I’m a shopaholic (who me? naaa!).
OK, I have a better excuse: early birthday presents...to myself!
So I finally got around to buying a new pair of sunnies. Over the past few years my sunglasses were constantly getting smashed (a total of 3 lovely pairs ruined, and not by me!), which has left me with only one pair, my Rayban aviators that you’ve seen me wearing many times. At last I decided to “cast out the evil” that’s been haunting my poor sunglasses and buy a new pair. I really hope these ones will have a better fate. Knock on wood!
Anyway, I wanted a pair of Wayfarers for a while now and so I got this pair from the “Rare prints” collection, which has a black frame with a super cute button pins print on the inside. I absolutely adore them. I will take some close up photos and post them tomorrow.

I have a crafty/DIY question: these over-the-knee socks are too tight on my legs (the elastic part). Do you think I could cut the elastic band? But then I don’t know what will hold them in place. Have you had this problem with over-the-knee socks?

The piano scarf!

It’s funny how some clothes or accessories have a history of their own. This tartan scarf is almost as old as I am and I can’t even remember if I ever wore it when I was little. The only thing I remember about it is that we used it to cover the piano keys (I used to take piano lessons when I was a kid). I don’t know why the poor scarf had been condemned to such a fate! When we gave the piano away I decided to keep the scarf and have been saving it in my closet ever since. I think it was about time that little old scarf saw the light of day...

Still teal!

It’s not easy to be elegant and stylish in cold weather and I have to admit that wearing heavy clothing is not my thing. Thank God for layering, a fashionista’s only hope of creating a stylish outfit while managing to stay warm. I didn’t do anything groundbreaking today, just a classic button shirt-cardi combo, with a some teal accessories to make it more interesting. It wasn’t the warmest outfit for this weather, but again I’m always cold, no matter how many clothes I wear. What can I say, I’m a summer person!

Day 65 - Shopping and a coffee!

This weekend we've had the nicest weather. So sunny and warm! Yesterday it was the last day of a Fashion Bazaar held in the north suburbs of Athens and I decided to check it out. I’m a bit skeptical about these things, because they usually turn out to be a disappointment. This one was no exception, at least for me. When I hear the word Bazaar, I expect very low prices and a lot of bargains. Prices up to 100 euros maximum! But that wasn’t the case there, apart from a few pieces at around 20 euros (which of course I grabbed without a second thought!). You’ll see me sporting my new purchases pretty soon...
And after the small shopping spree, I went for a coffee with my dear friend Barbara, who is also an aspiring photographer and took these beautiful photos of me. I wish I could have her taking my blog pics every day! She’s amazing... And the background of über expensive yachts is even more amazing!
